It is with a heavy heart I pass on to you the very sad news that former KEGS pupil, Old Eds player and close personal friend to many of us Phil 'Cal' Ayres died at his home in The Great Lakes region of Haute Charente (Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France) on Saturday evening 14th January 2017. Arrangements will be posted in due course. R.I.P. Cal one of life's true characters.

Dear friends, There will be a memorial service for Phil 'Cal' Ayres at St James' Church, Church Lane Weddington, CV10 0EX next Friday 27th January at 12:00 mid-day and afterwards a reception will be held at the Old Eds Club at 12:30 with tea, coffee, a cold buffet and the bar will be open. You'll also be able to record for posterity your recollections of Cal in a Book of Memories which I have no doubt will be a great comfort to Cal's family. It is also intended that there will be a moment of silence to remember Cal before the Old Eds' game tomorrow at Weddington kicking off at 2:15PM. Best regards Ged O'Neill

Message from Cal's wife Tracy: "My husband would like people to wear something bright and cheerful to his memorial service and obviously for the celebrations afterwards."
Thanks Ged

A message of thanks from Cal's wife Tracy:
"I would just like to thank everyone for attending Cal Ayres's memorial service and wake yesterday. He would have loved to see everyone there, it is much appreciated. I tried to speak to everyone yesterday and there are probably quite a few people that I do not know that well because of Cal's Rugby days which was before I met him. So please would you pass this message on to all members. I have left his 'memory book' so that anyone else can write a few words about Cal if they wish to. I will collect it at some point (or Jez will) when I return to the UK soon. Once again, thank you for yesterday, you all made it very special and memorable. He was the love of my life and always will be. love from Tracy Ayres"
