For the differently abled amongst us here are a few tips:
Do I have to register?
No, you will still be able to post messages as before, but if you don’t you won’t be able to use a whole host of extra features.
What are the benefits of registering?
There are many benefits to registering. By registering, all posts you make will automatically have your name filled in. You will be able to see which posts are new (there will be a marker next to posts that says "NEW"). You can get email notification of replies to your posts. You can send private messages to other members. Also, no one will be able to post using your name (you can "secure" it so that no one else has it!). There are many more reasons to register, but there are just too many to list. We strongly encourage you to register.
How do I register?
You need to supply a user name (containing no spaces or other reserved characters) and a valid email address. You will then be emailed your password for your account, which will be randomly generated. You can then login to the board and change your password to something else on the profile page.
What is this profile thing?
Every registered member has a profile (available in top menu bar once you are logged in). In your profile you can choose how your name is displayed, change your password, set your email address, change how the time is displayed on the forum, set your own time zone, create a signature, and much more.
What is this private messages thing?
Integrated with the message board is a private messaging system. If you are a registered member you can send and receive private messages from other members.
Can I see who is online?
Yes. At the bottom of the index page you will see the number of Guests and which registered users are currently logged into the board.
How do I post a new message?
Whilst you are looking at the main list of conversations, you need to click on the following icon:
How do I reply to a message?
When you are reading an existing message, click on this icon:
Linking to another site
Click on this icon
This gives you the following BBCode
For example to link to NOERFC you could use:
This would generate the following link: Visit NOERFC!
If you want the URL itself displayed as the link you can do this by simply using:
This would generate the following link: www.noerfc.co.uk/
Adding an image to a post
Two very important things to remember when using this tag are: many users do not appreciate lots of images being shown in posts and secondly the image you display must already be available on the internet (it cannot exist only on your computer for example, unless you run a webserver!).
