In the last reply that I made about Pete Neal's funeral I made this reference to an email that Brian Collins wrote advising me that he was travelling up from Bristol.
"Pete was my loose head prop '61-63 when, together with Don Charles, the front row were the leading try scorers in the Ed's 1st team for a season!"
I commented that Brian went on to play for Leicester Tigers, Bath and got into the England B trials which was not totally accurate.[/color]
In the past there have been many requests for information about the achievements of ex players so I am grateful to Brian for sending this email as it gives me the opportunity to do just that.
Hey Gren,
It was good to see everyone at Pete's funeral.
I didn't expect the mention but, just for the record, I don't think that England B existed in 1966/67. I was actually reserve in attendance at the full trial at Welford Rd and the final trial at Twickenham that season. So I would have played if either John Pullin or Steve Richards had got injured in either match or just couldn't play.
Neither pulled out so I was just involved in the training sessions on the Sundays after each trial.
I don't know if Pullin still has his FRUMAS tie but he certainly had one from me and paid for it!
Cheers,Brian.
