At the beginning of this week I was watching Midlands Today and was saddened to learn that the funeral of John Hofton, age 62, had taken place. John and his wife Annie were victims of the Tsunami.
Those of us who remember John, a previous Moseley player, as a particularly smoky winger for the Sils will be very saddened by this news because he was also a very good drinking mate of ours. We spent many an hour drinking in his company and he typified the attitude of players of the day who would always make a point of buying their opposite number an aftermatch pint.
He will be remembered with great affection as a worthy opponent and good friend of the Eds who knew him.

I was on the wing, me not Mick and had to learn to throw in to the lineouts. I recall that John set me up for at least four tries in the series of games. my condolences to his family mfewp
