''Club History''
When I first played for the Club in the early Fifties there were players who talked about The Eds in the Thirties and even earlier. What a tale they could tell!
Sadly they are no longer with us!!
During the last five decades I have enjoyed the friendship of some of the finest people you could wish to meet. Sadly some of those friends are also no longer with us physically but they certainly are in spirit!
Moving on from the dearly departed I am making the point that the stories those good folk could tell have been sadly lost before any attempt has been made to write an accurate though light hearted club history. However there are still many members about who are even older than I am, Oh yes there are!, and they must have stories to tell too.
And we must not forget the players of today who have their own special contribution to make!
If we do not document these stories now they will be lost forever and the club history may never be recorded.
If we use ''Centenary Projects''such as''Old Eds Reunited''to encourage many more of our members to involve themselves in this Forum to recount their memories and experiences it seems to me that we have at least one professional editor in the Club who could stitch it all together in the form of an informative and entertaining history.
The initial challenge then is to build up a substantial email list to ensure that the maximum number of members do indeed register on this Forum. We can then all be co-authors of this exciting and potentially rewarding project.
Do we have any potential editors out there?
The players of tomorrow will be looking to us for guidance.
